Beach Trip
Tuesday
AUGUST 30th
Trip requests for the August 30th trip to Lori Wilson Park Beach and Historic Cocoa Village, in the Cocoa Beach area will OPEN ONLINE FRIDAY JULY 15. The Trip Request form will be at the bottom of this page.
A reminder that Lori Wilson Park Beach, is just that, a park with beach access via a board walk with a few steps involved at the end of the boardwalk.
The park has showers, plenty of shade trees, a playground, restrooms, picnic tables, etc. It is not an isolated beach, but it has NO CONCESSIONS. Rovers will probably want to bring drink(s) and a picnic lunch or snacks, as the walk to fast food places along the main street is "relatively" long. Also, for those who expect to squeeze out every possible minute of sun and sand, for this trip only we will be leaving the beach a bit earlier than usual to take a short drive to Cocoa Village, the historic part of Cocoa, Fl.
For this trip only, to give us time to explore Coca Village and have dinner, we will leave the beach around 2:45 and the bus WILL NOT return to the beach to pick up late comers. We will leave for The Villages directly from Cocoa Village at approximately 6:45.
Cocoa Village is on the intercostal waterway of the Banana River. It is somewhat like a Villages square area; small specialize stores, antique stores, resort clothing, ice cream, deli, and a wide choice of restaurants.
General Information About the Beach (Hey I Googled It!)
Lori Wilson Park is located about a mile and a half south of S.R. 520 on A1A in Cocoa Beach. This is south of the Cocoa Beach Pier. Short trails lead past public restrooms, over the boardwalks through a small wooded area and over the dunes to the beach. This beach does have a lifeguard stand, but there are days where there are no lifeguard to be seen.
This beautiful park is also a popular place for beach weddings. There are several picnic tables near the parking area, several more near the restroom facilities, and several covered tables on the boardwalk facing the beach. This is a favorite beach park in Cocoa Beach.
If you were unable to come to the membership meeting the checks shoud be sent to the treasurer -
Judy Erdely 2072 Altair Path The Villages, FL 32163
Or dropped of at her home in the
Villages of Pinnellas.
ALL CHECKS
must be received
by
August 15th.
In an effort to cut down on the amount of work and member volunteers it takes to collect the monthly beach trip payments, in the future we will be gradually shifting to a pattern of making a trip reservation and paying for it in person at the next social meeting.
We have closed the club postal box and do not accept mailed in payments, however, all of us will have those times when we must be absent from a meeting. The board is presently discussing a process to handle those times; most likely with Judy & Rich putting the basket out at their home for the person(s) who must miss a meeting.
