We can't stay away from this wonderful beach, sleepy Pass-a-Grille with it's old Florida vibes. If you haven't had the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the laid back beach town, Pass-a-Grille, you really should join us on this trip. If you have shared the experience of Pass-a-Grille on a previous trip, you know the treat you are in for.
It is a National Historic District. The town is rumored to have earned its name from Cuban fishermen who camped along the water smoking their fish on grills. Traveling by the pass, fishermen could see the fires and took to calling the spot Pass-a-Grille.

The Suncoast Beach Trolley
Another way to get around Pass-A-Grille is by using the Suncoast Beach Trolley. The trolly runs every 20 - 30 minutes from 5:05 a.m. to 10:10 p.m. daily between coastal beach locations and downtown St. Petersburg. $2.00 per ride each way, $4.50 unlimited day pass. There are also several other free (tips are expected!) transportation choices up and down the beach depending on the day of the week, the number of people on the beach and in the area, and the month and season (high season: winter months, low season: spring/summer/fall)

In the past, some of our members have enjoyed lunch at this 1940's landmark hotel. Maybe you just want to see it up close and personal, it is exquisite. Stop in for an afternoon drink. All you need to do is hop the trolly or find a taxi, it's your day to do as you want.
Food - Glorious Food

For lunch there's a little beach front grill serving hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, etc. it is right on the beach. Nice, quick. grab and go lunch. Maybe you prefer to pack a lunch, hey whatever works for you! This casual, laid-back beach is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sound of the surf.
Yes, we are going back where we started, sleepy Pass-a-Grille, to the Brass Monkey for those delicious crab cakes, to the Hurricane for fresh grouper, or chose most any cuisine just across the low traffic, beach front street, and a few steps from the sand. Dinner that over looks the sun, the sand and the beach. Who could ask for anything more?
